A look at who were the top 20 performers in the batting and bowling averages for the NCU Premier League during the 2021 season.

Six of the top seven run scorers were born overseas, with the top three all passing the magical 1000 run landmark.

Ani Chore was something of an unknown quantity when he arrived at Comber, but the Indian born batsman topped the tree with 1157 runs at 77.13 3 hundreds, 7 fifties), ahead of fellow countryman Faiz Fazal whose 1043 runs at 54.89 included four centuries and fifties.

South African Jacques Snyman's 1020 runs at 63.75 was most remarkable for his incredible strike rate of 169.15, hitting 66 sixes! - three hundreds and eight half centuries.

Andre Malan and Ruhan Pretorius missed out on the 1000 run mark, but enjoyed successful seasons nonetheless, with Malan's early departure meaning he ended on 937 at the highest average - 78.08.

Chris Dougherty was once again the epitome of consistency - has it ever been any other way? Doc's 902 run haul at 37.58 contained one hundred and seven fifties.

Completing the top ten were the CSNI pair of Luke Georgeson and Ross Adair, plus Jeremy Lawlor of Carrick and North Down skipper Ally Shields.

Eight of the top ten bowlers learned their cricket overseas, but it was a local man who topped the tree, Ben 'Buddha' Adair of CSNI claimed 35 wickets at 21.69.

Six South Africans - a reflection of the increasing role the country is playing and will continue to play in Irish cricket - are in the ten, with Josh Manley taking 34 wickets, while Cian Robertson and Tom Mayes took 33 apiece.

Graham Hume - who looks certain to be capped by Ireland in 2022 - took 32 wickets at the excellent average of just 15.78 - bettered only in terms of average by CIYMS left-arm spinner Graham Kennedy - who also isn't too far away from a cap. Also in the top ten from Belmont were Jacob Mulder and James Cameron-Dow.

Luke Georgeson - who if the rumour mill is correct, turned down the opportunity of an Ireland cap this season in favour of a domestic deal in his native New Zealand - was along with Ruhan Pretorius the players who were in the top ten of both lists.

Ben Rose of Instonians was the other locally born player to break the overseas grip on the top ten, and the young spinner will have been happy with his haul of 33 wickets in an excellent season.

At the other end of the age spectrum, Kyle McCallan was just outside the top ten with 28 wickets, followed by the North Down trio of Peter Davison, Ryan Haire and Carl Robinson.
