There are few sides better than CIYMS in Ireland when at full strength and that was the case at Stormont as the Belmont side overpowered CSNI in the Challenge Cup semi-final at Stormont.

Irish international Mark Adair returned from international duty, and 'Sparky' put in a Man-of-the-Match display with bat and ball to inspire CIYMS to another cup decider.

This was no one-man show though as their total of 260 for 5 was built around contributions and partnerships right throughout the order.

Chris Dougherty (47) shared an opening stand of 62 with John Matchett (23), and although the latter and James Cameron-Dow fell in quick succession to Luke Georgeson (3-46), another stand of 53 between 'Doc' and Jason van der Merwe (45) laid the perfect foundation.

Adair struck five boundaries in a breezy 29 as he and Van Der Merwe kept the scoreboard ticking over, while the best partnership of the innings was saved for last.

In-form skipper Nigel Jones hit five fours and a six in an unbeaten 55 from just 48 deliveries, adding 69 in ten overs with Graham Kennedy (30) as CIYMS posted a formidable 260 for 5.

As well as Georgeson's three wickets, the other successful bowler was Ben Adair (2-29).

The CSNI chase was rocked early as Mark Adair accounted for Georgeson and Andrew Cowden in his second over, while the returning Allen Coulter struck a huge blow as he removed the dangerous Ross Adair - yesterday's centurion - for 14.

At 26 for 3, it needed a huge partnership between Gary Wilson and Stuart Thompson if this was going to be a contest.

The pair did add 46 in 14 overs, before Wilson was trapped lbw for 18 off Graham Kennedy.

Adair (4-23) them accounted for Paddy Beverland and Chris McMorran in quick succession and thereafter it was only a question of the margin of victory.

Kennedy (4-34) removed Thompson, who top scored with 42, and the CSNI innings folded quickly, all out for just 118.

The 142-run win is an indication of the impressive performance, and it should be quite a final when they take on North Down at Comber on August 13th.
