Munster shocked Leinster to win their opening U17 interprovincial game by seven wickets in a rain-affected contest at Cork Harlequins.

The win is a real boost for youth cricket in the region against their illustrious opponents, who traditionally use these games to take a look at their wider squad members.

Batting first Leinster were dismissed for 160, with runs for Aaron McGeehan (31), Brandon Morris (29), and Vishal Venkatesan (24).

There was a tremendous bowling display by Kanishie Kumar who picked up 4-34, while there were two wickets apiece for Eshan O'Sullivan (2-22), and Umar Khan 2-27.

Chasing a revised target of 152, Munster romped to a seven wickets win thanks to 42 from Jack Buss and Sunil Gautum.

Congratulations to coaches Arsalan Khalid and Freddie Froggatt. The teams are due to play a return match this week.
