Leinster beat the NCU by 41 runs in a rearranged game after the NW Under 17s didn't travel to Lisburn due to a number of their players having to isolate due to covid contacts.

Robert Craigan (3-25) took early wickets to have Leinster in a spot of bother at 65 for 5, but their depth was evident as they rallied strongly.

A sixth wicket stand of 52 in eight overs between Joe O'Sullivan (37no) and Mark Canliffe (27) steadied the ship and a few lusty blows from Clontarf left-hander John McNally got their total up to 150 for 7.

Joe O'Sullivan scored 37

Leinster skipper James Forbes (2-15) struck two early blows to leave the hosts reeling on 5 for 2, and that forced Carson McCullough (32) and Ryan Matthews to consolidate.

The pair added 55 in 13 overs, but by that stage despite wickets in hand the required rate had climbed to over 13 and out of sight.

Matthews completed a fine unbeaten half century,  his unbeaten 51 coming from 47 balls and included two fours and the only two sixes of the game.

Adam Ly chipped in with 14 as the NCU ended 41 runs adrift on 109 for 4, with the other successful bowlers being John McNally (1-13) and Daniel Forkin (1-17).
