Half centuries from Tim Tector, Phillipe Le Roux and Robbie Millar helped Ireland Under 19s beat Emerging Knights by 51 runs at Carrickfergus.

Early wickets for Cade Carmichael (3-48) had the Irish in trouble at 9 for 2, but thereafter they dominated proceedings with skipper Tector making it a good week for the family as he top scored with 67 from 77 balls.

Le Roux has been in sparkling form in the youth interpros and he made a run-a-ball 60 (5 fours, 2 sixes) sharing a sixth wicket stand of 78 in ten overs with Robbie Millar.

Eglinton all-rounder Millar was even more destructive as his 66 came from only 43 deliveries and included 6 fours and three sixes.

As well as Carmichael, Cian Robertson (2-38) also bowled well.

A final total of 270 for 8was always likely to prove challenging and so it proved despite a number of the hosts batting getting starts.

Archie Johnston top scored with 36, while there were also 30s for Paddy Beverland (33), Carson McCullough (31) and Matthew Humphreys (30).

Clontarf spinner David Vincent took the bowling honours with four wickets while there were three scalps for Diarmuid Burke in the 51-run win.

Lightning Bolts take on Munster Heat in the next match in the series on Friday.
