JJ Garth's century was just enough to help Leinster Bolts beat the Emerging Knights by three runs in a thrilling high scoring encounter at The Lawn.

The Pembroke all-rounder hit 9 fours and 4 sixes in a brilliant 101 from 72 balls as the Bolts piled on 283 for 8.

There were runs too for Conor Fletcher (54), Fiachra Tucker (41) and Jamie Grassi (30), while Matthew Foster, Cian Robertson and CJ van der Walt picked up two wickets each.

Ollie Metcalfe (79) and Max Burton (34) raced out of the traps in the chase, but the left-arm spin of Amish Sidhu (5-29) looked to have the hosts dead and buried at 176 for 8 at the start of the 33rd over.

Cade Carmichael had other ideas as he counter-attacked brilliantly, hitting 7 fours and 3 sixes in his 80, as he dominated a ninth wicket stand of 102 in 12 overs with Robertson (24).

With 13 needed off the last over bowled by Mitchell Thompson, a single from Robertson was followed by a six from Carmichael to reduced the required equation to six off four balls.

However Carmichael was stumped by Jamie Grassi off the next balls, and Robertson was run out off the fifth attempting to keep the strike to leave Bolts winners by three runs in a pulsating contest.

Leinster Bolts now have won all five games to top the table. They are next in action on Friday in Cork against Munster Heat in a T20, while the Emerging Knights host Ireland U19s at Carrickfergus tomorrow (THURS) in a 45-overs game.
