Sam Haslett's half century helped the North West to victory in the first Under 13 interprovincial against the NCU at Waringstown.

The Bonds Glen youngster hit 13 boundaries in an excellent 67 as his side chased down 140 to win by five wickets.

He was well supported by Ben Campbell who batted well for his 27, while Mo Hussain and Scott McClintock's sixth wicket partnership ensured the win in the 24th over.

The game was originally scheduled to be a 40-overs a side game, but the visitors requested a shorter contest, and after some horse trading 28 overs was finally agreed.

Frank Holloway 28, Hugo Robinson 21, Aadi Maini 20 were best with the bat for the hosts, while Scott McClintock claimed 3 for 15.

While there is no formal Under 13 interprovincial competition, the unions have organized matches between themselves.
