LEINSTER went back to the top of the IP50 table after easing to victory over Munster at Sydney Parade.

In a game switched at the last minute to Dublin from a rain-soaked Mardyke, Lightning skipper George Dockrell led the way with a powerful 88, writes Ger Siggins.

Dockrell lost his Ireland contract over the winter but responded with a century and three fifties in four interpros.

With the selectors meeting last night to pick the squad for next month’s qualifiers in Utrecht, the innings can be filed under ‘timely’.

Lorcan Tucker’s 58 helped the hosts rack up 271, with Tyrone Kane’s 4-46 the best for the Reds.

A spirited reply came unstuck at the hands of the excellent Barry McCarthy’s tournament record 6-39, although Cape Town-born Murray Commins’ 50 showed why Graham Ford can’t wait for him to qualify for Ireland.

Seamus Lynch (21) and Fionn Hand (27) fought hard but 178 all out meant Leinster’s bonus point was secured.
