On the day that the Pedal4Patto cyclists are making their way around the cricket clubs of the NCU, it's a remarkable coincidence that almost 20 years ago to the day Andy Patterson and Kyle McCallan were doing battle on the cricket field.

The game at Castle Avenue was used by the Irish selectors to help prepare the side for the season ahead which was to include the ICC Trophy in Canada.

McCallan's side made 240 with Andrew White making 82, Ed Joyce 46 and Dom Joyce 26. Among the wickets were Mark Patterson and Conor Armstrong with three apiece while Adrian McCoubrey took two.

Mark and Andy Patterson

Andy Patterson's side could only make 180 in reply with Jason Molins top scoring with 50, Mark Gillespie making 30, and Andy Patterson 23.

The Limavady duo of Richard McDaid and Decker Curry, plus Andy White captured a brace of wickets apiece.

You can find out more about the Pedal4Patto fundraising efforts on their Facebook page - to date they have raised a magnificent 25,000 pounds and counting.
