Harry Tector will captain the Northern Knights in the 2021 Interprovincial campaign.
The Dubliner has made 30 appearances for the region in interpros since making the switch northwards in 2018, scoring 904 runs and taking 29 wickets.
In 2019 he scored 146 in a first-class match against Leinster Lightning, while his best bowling display of 5-46 was in a List-A match against the NW Warriors in La Manga.
Harry Tector is the 2021 Knights captain
Just 21 years of age, the YMCA all-rounder is already captain of the Ireland A side, leading them on their recent tour of Bangladesh.
Waringstown and Irish international James McCollum will be Tector's deputy for the upcoming campaign.
“To captain the MTB Northern Knights will be an absolute honour," said Tector.
“I’d like to think that I’ve represented the NCU well over the three years that I’ve played for the Knights. I’m passionate about NCU cricket and I can’t wait to see more young cricketers get their chance with the Knights. “
To take over from Gary (Wilson) – someone that I learned so much from and a man that did an excellent job – is a huge honour.”
Head coach Simon Johnston added: “Harry is somebody that has been identified as a potential future Ireland captain.
“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing him since he was 14 and made him captain in the Irish under-age setups. I know what an outstanding individual he is and what leadership qualities he will bring to this role.”
The Knights get their interprovincial season up and running when they face defending champions Leinster Lightning in an Inter-Provincial Cup match at YMCA.
