Just six weeks away from the start of the 2021 interprovincial season, the Northern Knights have a real dilemma in their wicket-keeping ranks with the retirement of Gary Wilson.
There's no immediate obvious replacement for Wilson, who has accepted a Head Coach role with the NW Warriors.
Within the players allocated to each region, current Irish number one Lorcan Tucker is based with Leinster Lightning while his understudy Neil Rock, has been switched to Munster Reds.
Stephen Doheny is making the trek to the NW, who also have Will Smale and Nathan McGuire in their 12 who have donned the gloves before.
There is of course an option for Head Coach Simon Johnston to go local with among the keepers used in years past including Jamie Magowan and Chris Dougherty.
Ireland could of course go to their Under 19 side and look to promote from there to give valuable experience in a World Cup Qualifying year.
They still have to formally announce their selected squad, with an Irish passport holding South African mooted to be under consideration, as well as young North County prospect Luke Whelan.
No doubt there will be ongoing discussions to resolve the matter, which may require more than one switch from the original squads.
A fascinating sub-plot to the new-look 2021 campaign!
