Ireland will choose their Player of the Decade at their awards ceremony next Friday, with shortlists of five being drawn up for both the men and women.

Ed Joyce, Tim Murtagh, Kevin O'Brien, William Porterfield and Paul Stirling will battle it out to be crowned the International Men's Player of the Decade, while Laura Delany, Kim Garth, Clare Shillington and the Joyce twins have been shortlisted in the women's category.

Paul Stirling with 7021 runs at 32.66 is by far the leading run scorer in the decade, followed by Kevin O'Brien with 5546 runs at 28.01.

Skipper for the majority of the decade Porterfield made 5484 runs at 29.80, ahead of his successor Andy Balbirnie whose 4016 runs came at 33.19.

Gary Wilson's 3994 runs at 25.44 were the fifth highest aggregate, while Ed Joyce had the best average in the decade, his 3915 runs coming at 42.55.

The bowling figures for the decade see George Dockrell, by far the leading wicket taker of the period not making the cut.

That's a surprise given his haul of 239 wickets at 27.67 was 70 more than second placed Kevin O'Brien - 169 wickets at 26.15.

Boyd Rankin, in third place, also didn't make the list, with his return of 152 wickets at 23.88, but Tim Murtagh's 142 wickets at 25.54 impressed the jury of former internationals Alan Lewis, Kyle McCallan, Andy White and Peter Gillespie and he made the shortlist.

Kim Garth made 1575 runs at 25.40, ahead of current skipper Laura Delany with 1312 runs at 16.40, and Gaby Lewis who has 1135 runs at 19.24.
