There was agony for the North West Women as they lost a tense thriller against Leinster U19 girls by just three runs at The Mall in Armagh.

Batting first Leinster posted 121 with Isabel Saeed-Maguire top scoring with 23, opener Sarah Forbes making 14 and 13 apiece from Jane Maguire and Kate McEvoy.

Kia McCartney (3-26) took the bowling honours, while Mollie Devine claimed 2 for 20, and there was a wicket apiece for apiece for Charley Scott, Sophie Killen and Megan Moorehead.

The North West found the conditions and bowling equally tough as looked out of it as they slipped to 63 for 7 in the chase.

However, they rallied with Arianna McKenna making a brilliant 42 to get them right back into contention.

Number 11 Megan Moorehead almost pulled off a sensational win in a last wicket stand with Sophie Killen, but she was the fourth wicket for Maria Kerrison (4-15).
