Cork Harlequins stunned Merrion with a six off the penultimate ball to reach the final of the All-Ireland T20 in a dramatic encounter at Anglesea Road.
It was a remarkable fightback by the Munster side who looked out of it when they were reduced to 107 for 6 with just one ball left of the 16th over chasing 154 for victory.
However Mubeen Ali (27*) and Seanan Jones (19*) added 49 in just four overs bowled by Jack Carty and Max Sorensen to secure the thrilling win.
Winners Cork Harlequins
The pair got boundaries just when they needed them, and with four needed from two balls, Jones smashed Sorensen over wide long on to spark wild scenes of celebration in the camp.
That Cork were in the position was thanks to an earlier assault by Murtaza Sidiqui, who top scored with 45 from 33 balls, including four sixes - three off consecutive deliveries by Amish Sidhu.
Tom Stanton (2-16) was the pick of the Merrion attack, removing openers Mattie Brewster and Brandon Kruger, while Sorensen (2-37) also took two wickets before having his figures ruined in the late run fest.
Merrion's total of 153 for 6 was dominated by a stand of 94 in 11 overs between opener Jack Carty and John Anderson.
Both scored half centuries, with Carty's 58 from 54 balls the top score (5 fours, 2 sixes), while Anderson's 52 came from just 35 deliveries (4 fours, 2 sixes).
Zubair Hasan Khan took 2 for 28, while Adam Hickey (1-13) and Seanan Jones (1-18) both bowled exceptionally well to keep the target within reach.
"It's an unbelievable feeling," said captain Matt Brewster after the victory.
"This win represents years of hard work from the lads.
"Our goal is to play Premier Division cricket in Leinster. This wins shows that this is really possible.
"We are a young squad with an average age of just 21. Hopefully this can be the just the start of something really special for the club."
Cork Harlequins celebrate the win
Harlequins will now face the winners of the Carrickfergus versus Brigade game which takes place at Middle Road next Sunday, August 15th.
