Woodvale have been dealt a blow with the news that Pat Botha won't be arriving at the club as their overseas player for the 2021 season.
The South African had a proven track record in the province, scored 1496 runs in three seasons at Carrick at an average of 41.56.
The 30 year-old was due to arrive at Ballygomartin Road for the 2020 campaign - Woodvale's first in the Premier League since 2009.
However, Botha has according to a club source 'decided on other avenues' and won't be arriving in 2021.
Woodvale had given a clear signal of intent with the signing of former Irish international James Hall on a three-year deal earlier this month.
One option could be recently released North Down overseas player Ruhan Pretorius, although that may require a level of investment beyond their resources,
