Newbuildings cricketer Trent McKeegan has given a cheque for £5000 to Altnagelvin Hospital after a remarkable fundraising effort by the 20 year-old.
Earlier this year, he ran 75 miles in just three days, completing three miles every three hours, including overnight.
Trent received tremendous support for his herculean effort, being joined on his runs by family, friends and well-wishers.
“I wanted to do something to honour the memory of my grandfather Alan Wallace, who was so well looked after by the hospital,” said McKeegan, who himself works in the Pharmacy Department of the hospital.
“Alan was well known throughout the NW as a respected umpire, and the support I received from the community was overwhelming.
“It was great to be able to give the cheque to Altnagelvin, especially at this difficult time.”
