Balbriggan have signed experienced all-rounder Shahid Iqbal and his two sons from Rush.

The Pakistan born player first came to these shores over 20 years ago as a club professional with NW side Glendermott, going to play for YMCA and Rush.

He has been with the Kenure club for 17 years, helping them win the National Cup three times.

"Balbriggan cc are delighted to announce that Shahid Iqbal and his two sons Noman and Hassan have joined the club," said Adrian Harper.

"Shahid had a superb record as a first class cricketer in Pakistan, and has spent over 20 years in Irish cricket, so will bring a wealth of experience to the club.

"Shahid always scored runs and took wickets whenever he played against us so it will be good to have him with us rather than against us!

"His professionalism has already been evident in Balbriggan where himself, Noman and Hassan have already spent many hours in the nets through the autumn and winter months.

"The club are eagerly looking forward to seeing all three players having a big impact at the club in 2021."

His stats for Rush are quite remarkable, playing 252 matches, scoring 6879 runs (40 fifties, 10 centuries), as well as taking 301 wickets. A real triumph of talent and longevity.
