Ryan ten Doeschate has extended his deal with Essex and will remain at the club until the end of the 2021 campaign.
Despite turning 40 this year, the Netherlands international has shown little signs of his batting prowess diminishing as he averaged 51 in the T20 Blast and just over 31 as Essex clinched the inaugural Bob Willis trophy.
'Tendo' has been at the club since 2003 and was at the helm as they followed up the Division Two title in 2016 with County Championship titles in 2017 and 2019.
“I’m delighted to extend my time at the Club for another year," Ten Doeschate told the Essex website.
“I feel that I have sustained my ability to contribute to the team this year and my hunger and passion for the game and the Club is at an all-time high.”
It's also potentially good news for Dutch fans with their T20 World Cup campaign scheduled to take place in Australia in October next year.
