The Interprovincial series ended in familiar fashion at Malahide on Monday evening as Leinster Lightning completed what in fairness was a less than convincing three-wicket win over the North West Warriors.

With the championship trophy already in the bag the southerners got a bit ragged/complacent towards the end of the contest, but still had enough about them to make it an unbeaten season.

Andy McBrine opted to bat first on winning the toss, with Nathan McGuire dismissed third ball and at 11 for 1 in the fourth over came a lengthy rain delay.

Play eventually restarted at 2.15pm, with the contest reduced to 32 overs per side.

The Warriors took a while to get going if truth be told- William Porterfield's 17 the best of the top order before a 5th wicket stand between Stuart Thompson and Graham Hume gave them some momentum.

The pair added 67 between them; ironically both dismissed on 36 however after that the runs dried up again.

No other batsman made it to double figures as the Warriors were restricted to 132-8 from their reduced quota.

Simi Singh - the leading wicket taker this year in the Cup - fared best of the bowlers as he picked up 3-27 with Josh Little adding 2-22 and Curtis Campher 2-23.

Lightning lost both openers early in their reply, with Kevin O'Brien bowled second ball by Hume and Jack Tector, who played on off Craig Young out without a run on the boar.

However Stephen Doheny (33) and Lorcan Tucker (14) eased their team back into the contest before Tucker became Craig Young's second victim with 24 on the board.

Campher and Doheny picked up the gauntlet in the home side's middle order and they looked set to coast to a comfortable success before the Warriors forced their way back into the match.

The home side lost Simi Singh, Greg Ford and Tyrone Kane for very little to make things interesting, but the Warriors couldn't shift the South African all-rounder.

Campher hit 8 fours in his unbeaten 59 as he and skipper George Dockrell closed out the win.

Debutant Conor Olphert (2-34) caught the eye for the visitors, as did Craig Young (2-30) and Ross Allen (1-9) with Varun Chopra (1-23) picking up his first Interprovincial wicket.
