Carrickfergus have signed former Glamorgan all-rounder Jeremy Lawlor from Phoenix.

The Middle Road side endured a poor 2020 campaign despite recruiting Scottish T20 specialist George Munsey and have moved swiftly to strengthen their squad for next season.

Lawlor scored 138 in seven T20 matches in Dublin at an average of 23, and picked up six wickets as Phoenix reached the League Cup semi-finals.

The 24 year-old is an Irish passport holder and was encouraged by Irish cricket to try and resurrect his career having been released by Glamorgan.

He featured in two matches for Munster Reds and also scored an eye catching 90 in an intra squad game last month.

With Lightning having so much strength in depth he has opted to move northwards with a view to representing the MTB Northern Knights.
