Leinster Lightning have claimed the Interprovincial 50-over Cup for the seventh year in a row after a thumping 62-run win (DLS) over the Warriors at Bready this afternoon.

George Dockrell's men were much too strong for the home side who in fairness put up a decent show with the bat, having been put in at a cold and blustery Magheramason.

They got a solid start as Nathan McGuire and William Porterfield (14) put on 30 for the first wicket before McGuire (34) and Will Smale added 36 for the second.

Curtis Campher (4-46) and skipper Dockrell (2-28) then halted the Warriors progress in the middle overs, although Smale batted really well for his 45.

A 58-run stand between the Grahams- Kennedy and Hume took the home side over the 200-mark; the Ballyspallen man hitting 3 fours and a six in his 46 while Hume hit 4 boundaries and a maximum in his 36.

(Kevin O'Brien and Jack Tector)

Simi Singh and Peter Chase were the other wicket takers for Leinster as the first innings closed on 205-8.

Leinster never had a moment's worry in reply aside from a missed chance off Hume, as an opening partnership of 132 between Kevin O'Brien and Jack Tector threatened to record a maximum 10-wicket win.

With rain looming, Andy McBrine did at least manage to pick up the wicket of O'Brien for 51 to give the home support something to cheer.

That was to be as close as it got for the Warriors though- Tector still in the middle, undefeated on 76 (7 fours, 1 six) when play was abandoned for the day.

Lightning were 136-1 in the 27th over at that point- 62 ahead on the machine- and that was enough to claim the championship.
