YMCA teenager Tim Tector has been called into the Leinster Lightning squad for their clash with NW Warriors at Bready on Tuesday.

He replaces Merrion all-rounder Tyrone Kane who suffered a muscle strain during the Dubliners comfortable win at Comber against the MTB Northern Knights.

Tector is one of five YMCA players in Nigel Jones' 12-man squad, with the Claremont side capturing their first All-Ireland crown on Saturday.

The 17 year-old already has interprovincial experience under his belt having played twice for Munster Reds this season. It's unlikely he will gain a first Lightning cap with team mate Rory Anders first cab off the rank to fill Kane's slot as a like-for-like replacement.

"It’s unfortunate for TK that he has a slight niggle and we’ll rest him tomorrow, but hopefully he will be fit again for the Malahide games on Saturday and Monday,” said Jones.

“It does give us an opportunity to bring Tim Tector into the squad. He is an exciting young player, who has shown great promise over the last 12 to 18 months coming through the youth pathway programme."

The defending champions will gain their seventh consecutive 50-overs cup title if they gain a bonus point win, but with a mixed forecast with rain moving in from early afternoon, it could be the weather which has the final say.

Play at Bready is due to get under way at 10:15am
