Cricket Scotland have made a decision to cancel the remainder of the Regional Series for both their men's and women's teams.

There had been due to be four matches this weekend, but the worsening Covid situation has prompted a safety first approach as their CEO Gus Mackay told the official Cricket Scotland website.

“This has been a difficult decision but the safety of our players and officials is paramount and it is important that cricket is playing its part in helping to contain the spread of the virus.

"Cricket activity has made good progress in the last six weeks but we feel that the long distance movement of cricketers is not wise, given the Scottish Government announcement today.”

It's a sad end to what has been a season to forget across most of Europe despite the best efforts of governing bodies.

Let us hope 2021 brings better fortunes for all.
