Calum MacLeod signs for Sussex in T20 Blast
Scotland top-order batsman Calum MacLeod has joined Sussex for the remainder of this year’s T20 Blast.
MacLeod will go straight into the Sussex Sharks squad for tonight’s match against Hampshire at The Ageas Bowl.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be down here in Sussex," said MacLeod.
"It’s an exciting opportunity to get out there and play some cricket.
“I’ve got some good experience having played in the Blast before and hopefully I can add some experience to the dressing room to help win a few games.”
The 31-year-old has previously played for Warwickshire, Durham and Derbyshire over his domestic career in England, alongside 49 T20Is and 66 ODIs for Scotland, culminating in 1,042 T20I and 2,175 ODI runs.
Scotland Coach Shane Burger commented: “We are very excited that Sussex has chosen Calum to represent them in the Vitality Blast.
“The number of Scottish players representing counties and putting in good performances shows the strength in our squad and the continued development of Scottish cricketing talent.
“Calum will bring good experience to the competition and we look forward to watching him!”
MacLeod will join a number of other Scotland internationals featuring in English county competitions this year, such as George Munsey and Brad Wheal (both Hampshire), Josh Davey (Somerset), Michael Jones (Durham), Tom Sole (Northants), Ruaidhri Smith (Glamorgan) as well as Kathryn and Sarah Bryce who are playing for Lightning.
