Louise Little became just the third women to take five wickets in the Super Series but it wasn't enough to deny the Scorchers taking a 2-1 series lead in their ongoing 50-overs series.

The Pembroke all-rounder joined former Irish international Amy Kenealy and Australian overseas player Sasha Maloney in the exclusive club.

Despite her five-wicket haul, the Scorchers posted 259, with skipper Leah Paul top scoring with 48, and 41 apiece from Shauna Kavanagh and Jenny Sparrow.

An opening stand of 72 between Rebecca Stokell (36) and Sarah Fobes (28) for the chase off to a solid start, but it ultimately fell 23-runs short, with the run out of Irish skipper Laura Delany for 11 pivotal.

There were good batting performances Rebecca Gough (46), Zara Craig (33), and Orla Prendergast (32), while Kate McEvoy took the bowling honours with three wickets.

The teams meet again next Sunday at the same venue.
