SHANE Getkate and Rush opening batsman Stephen Doheny have been named as captains of the North And South teams which will face each other in two T20 Development games at Lisburn on Thursday and Malahide next Monday.

The hastily arranged games are an add-on for the national selectors, following the series of provincial intra-squad games which ended in the North West on Tuesday.

None of the Ireland 22 who were in England for the recent one-day international series were considered although International Getkate is joined in the squad by CIYMS leg spinner Jacob Mulder, who won the last of his 14 Ireland caps in 2017.

There are seven NCU players and four from the North West in the Northern XII, plus Rush wicket-keeper Neil Rock who plays for Northern Knights.

The selectors have made three changes for the return game in Malahide with Morgan Topping, Carl Robinson and Clontarf’s senior international David Delany, another Northern Knights player, who missed the trip to England because of injury and has still not bowled this season, coming in.
