Ardmore were ahead of the required rate approaching the half-way point, but two wickets for McElhatton (2-14) and tight spells by Nathan Cole and Ian MacBeth saw them finish on 82 for 5.
In the same group Brigade claimed the runners-up slot thanks to a superb 92 not out from Andy Britton.
The Beechgrove skipper hit 10 sixes in an unbeaten 92 from just 31 balls as Brigade scored 148 against Letterkenny who replied with 70.
In the other group Killyclooney earned the top slot as they beat Bready convincingly.
Andrew Neill took four wickets as the Magheramason side made 72, with Killyclooney chasing it down with five wickets to spare.
They had beaten Fox Lodge the previous week - William Finlay's half century the highlight of a successful chase.
Newbuildings claimed second place after their game against Fox Lodge fell victim to the weather.
The Plate competition sees Ardmore host Bready on Friday August 14th, while Fox Lodge entertain Letterkenny on the 12th.
