Pembroke are opting for more of the same in 2020, after a season in which they claimed the league title as well as capturing their Holy Grail of the Irish Senior Cup.

They will be led once again by Fiachra Tucker who was at the helm last time out.

He will though have to deal without the services of an overseas professional, as Shaheen Khan is not coming over this year unfortunately due to the restrictions and the shortened season.

With Ireland's three ODI's against England being confirmed, the Sydney Parade side could be badly affected by international commitments with Andrew Balbirnie, Barry McCarthy, Josh Little and Lorcan Tucker all in the frame.

That should give an impressive group of youngsters including Scott Ruttle and Patrick Morris who are two of the young players to watch out for this season.

The club are still in the dark whether they will have an opportunity to defend their Irish Senior Cup crown due to the Covid crisis, but it seems highly unlikely at this juncture.

"We are extremely looking forward to getting back into competitive cricket next week," skipper Tucker told CricketEurope.

"The lads have been ecstatic at getting back into training over the last couple of weeks, and the shortened season can't come quick enough.

"This year consisting of solely 20/20 games provides us with some different challenges, and we will have to have a different outlook approaching training and matches.

"However, the lads are excited to take on the different challenges that 20/20 cricket has to offer, and with the strength and depth of our squad, we are confident to continue our good form from last year.

"Hopefully we will be in contention for some silverware come the end of the season."

They are in Group A of the League Cup competition and start with three home games against Leinster (July 18), Phoenix (25th), and Rush (August 1st), before going on the road with away days at Merrion (8th), North Kildare (15th) and Dublin University (29th).
