These may be troubled times but the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has brought out the best in people, no more so than the good people at Eglinton who have donated a lawnmower to Sion Mills.

Simon Galloway from the Tyrone club thanked them for their much needed donation at a time when the club had suffered from another bout of wanton vandalism.

"Sion Mills Cricket Club would like to publicly thank John Pierce and Eglinton Cricket Club for their very generous donation of a square cylinder mower.

"Sion understand that there were a number of suitors who would have been happy to purchase the mower, however the committee and members at Eglinton saw fit to give it to us free of charge as a result of the recent arson attacks on the club when we lost a lot of our maintenance equipment.

"I think everyone will agree that this was a selfless act, showing solidarity in times of need and everyone at Sion  is extremely grateful to you! Thank you.

Eglinton's John Pierce explained the selfless act by the village club.

"Our club committee were delighted to help in some way one of Irelandís most historic clubs whose recent difficulties have been well documented. Also a club with whom Eglinton Cricket Club has many associations down the years with some of Irelandís finest players coming from the two clubs in recent times and days gone by.

"Best wishes to Sion for the new season ( whenever that may be ) from everyone at Eglinton."
