The NCU Board has announced the continued suspension of 'all cricket activity' beyond the previously announced date of 28 May.

Following a meeting of the Board on 14 May, clubs were advised of the decision indicating the suspension would continue until such time as they received 'clarity from SportNI and the NI Executive'.

The requirements on clubs for player registration and starring have been similarly suspended until a date for recommencement of competitive cricket is known.

While the NI Executive have announced its approach to easing the restrictions currently imposed on us no dates are given for the stages of relaxation.

SportNI is currently developing a 'Sports sector framework for recovery' and Cricket Ireland is developing a 'Back to cricket training/playing' protocol but both these documents will have to be agreed with SportNI and the NI Executive before any resumption of cricket can take place.

Given what we now know it could at best be a very truncated season and the possibility of no competitive cricket this season is very real.
