Ireland Wolves were well beaten by Namibia in their first 50-over match, as The Eagles chased down 228 to win by seven wickets.

Batting first the Wolves lost Jack Tector early, run out for 2, but a steady stand of 45 for the second wicket between James McCollum (27) and Stephen Doheny (22) looked to have the Boys In Green back on track.

However both departed in quick succession, and with Shane Getkate also going cheaply, the innings looked in trouble as 53 for 1 became 55 for 4.

Skipper Harry Tector (31) and Gareth Delany (12) attempted a salvage operation, but a further cluster of wickets saw them back in the pavilion at 100 for 6.

George Dockrell and Curtis Campher rescued the innings with a seventh wicket stand of 89, as both made half centuries.

Dockrell hit 6 boundaries in his top score of 55 from 68 balls, while Campher's impressive Wolves campaign continued as he made 54 from 71 balls (6 fours, 1 six).

While a final total of 228 for 8 looked respectable, it was way short of being competitive as was soon proved when Namibia batted.

Half centuries from Stephaan Barrd and Niko Davin had the hosts always in control, despite Josh Little claiming a wicket as a result of a hit wicket.

James Cameron-Dow and Shane Getkate got  a wicket apiece but it was all academic as Gerahard Erasmus (42*) and Craig Williams (36*) sealed the emphatic seven wicket win with 10 overs to spare.

The Wolves have an immediate chance to gain revenge as the teams meet again on Thursday, before finishing the tour with a clash against a Northern Titans XI on Saturday.
