Dublin University have unveiled Nigel Jones as their player/coach on a three year-deal.

The 37 year-old is the current coach of Leinster Lightning as well as captain of NCU side CIYMS, and hopes to be able to continue in those roles.

Conor Hoey of Dublin University CC told CricketEurope: "We are very excited to announce the appointment of Nigel Jones as Director of Cricket in Trinity for the forthcoming season.

"The club is delighted that Nigel is coming on board as a Senior Player, Coach, Mentor and Visionary.

"He will be instrumental in helping us to attract and develop the next crop of young promising student cricketers into Trinity.

"We feel that he is the ideal candidate for this role with his wealth of cricketing experience both on and off the field.

"I have no doubt that Nigel will bring real energy, leadership and a healthy competitive structure to the club.

"His appointment is a key part of DUCC’s ongoing development, and we hope 2020 is the start of a long and successful journey with him."

Nigel Jones won 34 caps for Ireland between 2009 and 2012, featuring in two T20 World Cup squads in the West Indies and Sri Lanka.
