Former Irish Under 19 international Aaron Cawley is joining Phoenix for the 2020 season.

The opening bowler had spent the last four seasons with Cork County, having earlier played three years with Pembroke.

During that time his appearances have been limited due to a combination of injury and education commitments.

His has played just 21 times at senior level over the past three seasons, making seven of those last year before taking a break from all cricket.

Cawley has 31 senior wickets at 24.94, with a best bowling return of 4 for 25 against Terenure.

He is also a more than useful lower order batsman with a top score of 65 against Railway Union.

Phoenix have been busy in the close season with Joey Carroll replacing Simi Singh.

The club has also been strongly linked with North County opener Jamie Grassi, a former team of Grassi when they won the U19 World Cup Qualifier in Jersey in 2017.
