John Mooney is returning to North County as senior Coach for the 2020 season.

The former Irish international enjoyed great success as part of the all-conquering Balrothery side who dominated Irish and Leinster cricket for over a decade, during which they captured five Irish Senior Cup titles.

Mooney has fulfilled similar roles at both Clontarf and Balbriggan in recent years, as well as stints as a fielding coach and consultant with Afghanistan, West Indies and Denmark.

County first team captain Eddie Richardson told the club website:“It’s great to have Johnboy back home.

"He will lift the standard of the players’ performances all round.

"He has always had a great work ethic which we hope he will instil throughout the club.

"All the players are looking forward to working with him.”

It is yet to be confirmed if he will be playing as well, but at just 37 years old, he clearly still has plenty to offer the club as they look to restore the former glory days.
