Paul Stirling has been named the Irish Independent Sportstar of the Week for his match winning 95 in the recent T20 against the West Indies in Grenada.

The powerful opener struck a blistering 95 from 47 balls which was just enough to give Ireland a nailbiting four-run victory.

The 'Belfast Blaster' smashed eight maximums as well as six fours in a record-breaking stand of 154 with Kevin O’Brien.

Meanwhile, Cricket Ireland's annual awards ceremony looks set to take place towards the end of February. It had been provisionally scheduled to take place this week, but has been postponed.

The list of nominees for the various awards is expected to be unveiled over the coming weeks.
