Burndennett have brought in West Indian Albert Gopie to replace Salman Ahmed (pictured) as their overseas amateur for 2020.

Gopie is a batting all-rounder who grew up playing club cricket alongside Peat Salmon and Andre Henry in the St Catherine's area of Jamaica.

He was in the national set-up at underage level and a spokesman for the Tyrone club said they were hoping that the new man would help to carry forward the momentum from an impressive 2019 campaign.

"We enjoyed possibly our best ever season last time and hopefully that will give the boys plenty of confidence as we start again in April.

"We see Albert as the type of player who can set the standard at Burndennett and everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming him here for the summer.

"We came agonisingly close to promotion to the Premier League in 2019 and we're determined to give it a real go again this time."
