Oraine Williams won't be joining Glendermott for the 2020 season.
The West Indian, who played previously in the region with Eglinton, was due to join the Rectory side for the forthcoming campaign, but has struggled to obtain the necessary coaching qualifications required.
"It's a blow for the club," said a Glendermott spokeperson. "He has encountered problems with obtaining a coaching badge required as part of the Cricket Ireland endorsement process, which prevents him from coming.
"As a club we’re disappointed as I’m sure our players and supporters would have loved to have had him at the Rectory where the pitches we produce would have suited his undoubted all-round talents."
The club are now examining alternative options, including a Pakistan Test player with previous Irish experience.
They hope to make an announcement in the coming weeks.
