12 clubs have benefitted from the Irish governments Sports Capital Programme to the tune of 351 525 in the latest announcement.

Railway Union were the biggest beneficiaries, getting 103 375 for indoor cricket facilities at the Park Avenue club.

Leinster CC in conjunction with the tennis club were awarded 66 652, while Phoenix received 37 634.

Others who received grants were Rush 33 944, Greystones 26 650, Clondalkin 21 798, Tyrrellstown 15 863, St Johnston 15 268, Cork County 13 987, Knockharley 12 002, Laois 3803, Bagenalstown 549.

The total fund given to all sports was 37,084,304, meaning the cricket share was less than 1% - 0.947% to be precise.

While the clubs will be thankful. cricket has still a bit to go before being considered mainstream in the eyes of the providers.
