Highlight of the week for the Irish down under this week mist by Kim Garth’s triumphant return to the WBBL.

Her bowling figures of 2-25 in her four overs were the best on show, as her Perth Scorchers side stormed to a 9-wicket win over Brisbane Heat.

Garth has played five club T20s in advance of this week (two for Dandenong and three for Subiaco Floreat), scoring 98 runs at 49.00, and taking 5 wickets at 20.2 (ER 5.05).

Gaby Lewis has been in the runs with Prahan Premier Firsts, scoring 82 runs at 41.0, which included a 61*(27) in 10 Wicket victory over Dandenong.

Rachel Delany has been playing T20 with South Perth. In her first three Female A Grade games, Delany has scored 31 runs at 10.33.

Her team-mate Lara Maritz really has been taking on “Women and Men Down Under”, as in addition to playing alongside Rachel in one of those T20s (taking 1-17 and scoring 3*), we note that she started in an open 4th Grade game this weekend, bowling 6 overs (0-36) in a game against Midland-Guildford that will conclude next Saturday.

Una Raymond-Hoey has six T20s under her belt this year with Ringwood, and has scored 67 runs at 16.75, and taken 3 catches.

Neil Rock was elevated to First Grade, where he has lined out for his Mount Lawley club this weekend. He scored a 21(56) in his first innings (facing some bowlers with First Class experience) as his side finished on 222 ao. In response, Perth ended the day on 0-34, and the match will continue next week.

Stephen Doheny’s 2nd grade game from last Saturday concluded this weekend, his half-century not enough to help Randwick Petersham avoid an 8 wicket defeat where they tried 8 different bowlers, including the Rush batsman for 2 overs (0-26).

He made his first team debut on Sunday in a T20 contest against a Manly side which contained Morne Morkel.

He batted at number 8 scoring an unbeaten 13 from 12 balls as he and NSW/Sydney Thunder batsman Dan Sams (83*) saw the Randy Petes to victory.

Will Smale made 3 runs for Sydney, who suffered a 125-run defeat to Eastern Suburbs in their 3rd Grade contest.

And finally, an update from New Zealand where a number of younger players are spending the season. Last weekend Harry Warke played for Taradale CC Prems against Cornwall CC in the Laver & Wood 40 over competition. They chased down 190 in the 40th to win with Harry contributing 10 runs.

Max Burton & Robbie Moffett played for Taradale Div 1 side in two T20 matches. They won the first match by 10 wickets chasing down the target of 77 in 7 overs.

Max scored 44 off 23 balls in the chase and had bowling figures of 3 overs 2 for 10. They lost in the second game - batting first Max scored 43 off 47 balls and Robbie scored 42 off 45 balls in a total of 106/6. They shared a stand of 67. Max had bowling figures of 4 overs 0 for 28.

Many thanks to those who brought a few more players to our attention, but if you see any more that we’ve missed, please let us know (I am easily found on twitter at @dotski_w ).
