YMCA and Irish youth international Tim Tector is off to South Africa for the winter.

The 16 year-old will be attending the Futura Sports Academy in Durban.

Tector has captained Ireland at U15 level, and scored a match winning century against Middlesex.

He was part of the Ireland Under 19 team which took part in the World Cup Qualifying team in The Netherlands earlier this summer.

The youngest of the three Tector brothers, Tim will be hoping to emulate brother Harry, who has impressed in the senior international ranks following his debut earlier this year.

It will be the first of two trips to South Africa for Tim who will return there in January when he travels to St Stithians in Johannesburg. He will be joined by five other young promising players from the Leinster region as part of their long running and incredibly successful exchange programme,

We wish him well on his travels.
