Ireland completed a 3-1 Celtic Cup series win over traditional rivals Scotland with a 68 run win in the final T20 game of the series.

Put in to bat Ireland were quick pout of the blocks with Ollie Metcalfe piling into the Scots' attack. His 73 came off 50 balls including 10x4 and 1x6.

He added 42 with Seamus Lynch whose 28 came at better than a run a ball with him clearing the ropes three times.

Metcalfe added a further 52 with Tim Tector who scored 31 off only 19 balls with 2x4 and 2x6.

Ireland finished their 20 overs with a formidable 174/4 and every confidence that it would be a defendable total.

With the Scots' talisman Tom Mackintosh falling to a James Hunter catch off Cillian McDonnell for only one Ireland were off to the best possible start.

McDonnell went on to take a further two wickets and finished his four over stint with figures of 3-20.

Jamie Forbes bowled his four overs taking 2-19 as the Irish worked their way steadily through the visitors' batting.

Mitchell Thompson and Kyle Magee picked up a wicket each as the Scots fell behind in the chase finishing up 106/8 when the overs ran out.

Ireland 68 run winners in the match and 3-1 in the series where both sides featured players whose next meeting will be in the U19 World Cup Qualifiers in two years time.
