Former Eglinton and NW all-rounder Oliver Thompson has died following a short illness.
He was a talented attacking right-hand batsman and medium pace swing bowler who played for the village club with great distinction.
Oliver was the older brother of former Irish international Nigel, and uncle of current Ireland Test cricketer Stuart.
Club Secretary John Pierce announced the sad news saying:
"The Eglinton Club very much regret to announce the passing of our former captain Oliver Thompson.
"Oliver played with great distinction for many years for his beloved Eglinton and also the North West.
"Our deepest and sincere condolences go out to his family. An Eglinton legend without a doubt!"
Saturday's scheduled Premiership game between Eglinton and Glendermott has been postponed as a mark of respect.
Funeral arrangements later.
