Kim Garth has been ruled out of the forthcoming series against Zimbabwe with a hip injury.

The Pembroke all-rounder's absence is a major blow for interim coach Ed Joyce, with the experienced Garth a major player in an Irish side already suffering from four major retirements last year.

The 23 year-old has won 106 caps and stood in as skipper following Laura Delany's ankle injury against the West Indies.

The real concern is just how serious the injury could be, less than two months away from the crucial T20 World Cup qualifiers.

Her place in the squad is taken by Sydney Parade team-mate Hannah Little, who is yet to make her debut at international level.

The first of the three 50-over games takes place at Oak Hill on July 3rd, with the other two on the 5th and 7th, before they take place in T20 double-headers with the men on July 10th, 12th and 14th.
