Only one game went ahead as planned this past Monday night as Fox Lodge took center stage with a solid 9 wicket victory over hosts Eglinton.

Winning the toss and electing to bowl first Fox Lodge wasted no time by picking up two wickets by run outs within the first five overs due to excellent fielding from Angel Laird as her techniques seemed too quick for the Eglinton Batswomen.

As another wicket fell due to the change of bowling from L Blair (1-9) things at this point didn’t look bright for the ‘Ton, with the total now sitting at only 20 for the loss of three after six overs.

But with a 50 run stand between Arianna McKenna who made 22 and Megan McClintock with 28 proved to be the innings changer as they finished on a final total worth 72 off their 16 overs.

In response Sarah Black got the Foxies off to a brisk start as she dominated by hitting two sixes and four fours in her unbeaten 36 runs that steered the total to 36 off the opening three overs.

At the other end of the crease Emma Allen chipped in with 28 runs that included one six and four fours helped the Foxies to climb to a total of 64 off just 6 overs.

Fairing best with the ball for Eglinton, L Whiteside (1-11) then picked up the wicket of Allen in the 7th over.

With only 8 runs to chase down and plenty of wickets remaining the Foxies proved to be in a strong position.

Mollie Devine (1*) joined Black at the crease it was an easy task for the pair as they chased down the final runs in just 5 balls allowing Fox Lodge to achieve another victory in the 2019 season.

Speaking after the game Fox Lodge Captain Hannah McLaughlin said, "I am delighted with our win this evening, Eglinton fought hard to the very end and gave us a thriller game.

"My girls performed excellently from start to finish and with fantastic batting from Sarah Black and Emma Allen steered us to our victory tonight.

"I hope to keep up the winning ways for the reminder of the season to get back into top position and hopefully bring the league trophy back to Ballymagorry."
