There were three convincing wins in the Lagan Valley Steels T20 group matches, with Waringstown, Instonians and CIYMS all showing their strength.

Greg Thompson took his season run tally to 450 at an incredible average of 112.50 as Waringstown chased down a modest Carrick total of 110 to win by seven wickets.

He struck 7 fours and a six in his unbeaten 52 from 42 balls, sharing a third wicket stand of 64 with Adam Dennison (29).

Earlier two wickets apiece for James Mitchell (2-22) and Phil Eaglestone (2-27) had pegged Carrick to 110 for 8 - Matty McCord and CJ van der Walt making 22 apiece.

CIYMS were even more emphatic winners as they thumped an under strength Lisburn by 9 wickets.

There was no way back for Lisburn as an early new ball burst from Allen Coulter (3-11) saw Faiz Fazal among his victims and with James Cameron-Dow claiming (2-12), they were reeling at 23 for 5.

Richard Simpson top scored with 22 but Obus Pienaar took three wickets as they made just 85.

Mark Adair clubbed 4 sixes in a 13-ball 39 not out, while John Matchett hit 28 to seal the win with more than 11 overs to spare.

The final contest of the night went to the last over, but Instonians were always in control of the chase, as they beat Muckamore by 9 wickets.

Shane Getkate is another NCU player at the top of his game, and his unbeaten 74 took his season tally to 350 runs at an average of exactly 70.

Chasing 143, his unbeaten 74 came from 54 balls (7 fours, 1 six) as he and Olly Metcalfe added 100, with the teenager hitting seven boundaries in his 45.

Earlier Adita Adey (59) and Fahad Iqbal (34) had put on 63 to take Muckamore to 116 for 2 before the wheels fell off, with five wickets falling for just two runs - Andy White taking three in four balls to finish with 4 for 14.

There's one game tonight (FRI) as North Down entertain CSNI.
