Matt and Greg Ford are among 18 players named by Head Coach Albert van der Merwe for five T20 matches against a Denmark Development XI at College Park this week.

The brothers are sons of Ireland Head Coach Graham, and Matt (pictured) in particular has been instrumental in Malahide's revival, helping them win 15 league matches in succession.

The 25 year-old has scored 1301 runs in 21 innings for the villagers, at almost a Bradmanesque average of 92.93. He had scored six hundreds as well as four half centuries in an incredibly consistent run.

He's also a useful bowler, having claimed 30 wickets at just 13.50.

Elder sibling Greg has had a more modest impact in his time at the club, scoring 617 runs at 36.29, with one century and four fifties. They will be joined in the squad by fellow Malahide colleague James Newland.

Leinster's Gareth Delany has been named skipper for all five matches, and he along with YMCA all-rounder Fionn Hand are the only ever presents.

Hand's Claremont Road team-mates Jack Tector and Mitchell Thompson are also included.

Merrion have four players in the ranks, with the in-form Michael Lewis named alongside, Tom Stanton, Max Sorensen and wicket-keeper Patrick Tice, who will wear the gloves in the first three games.

Nic Pretorius of Phoenix takes over from Tice for the last two games, and he will have club mate Ben White for company.

From the Fingal area, there is former international all-rounder Eddie Richardson, The Hills' consistent run scorer Cormac McLoughlin-Gavin and Rush opening bowler Jarred Barnes.

Completing the line-ups are the Pembroke duo of Theo Lawson and Fiachra Tucker.

“It’s not only an area for young up and coming cricketers but also gives players that develop through our very important club system an avenue to press for higher honours,” says Lightning Head Coach Albert van der Merwe.

“Both sides have an array of players unavailable due to a combination of school, work, exams and injury,” added van der Merwe, “but this gives us a good test of our depth.”

Entrance to College Park is free for all five matches, with full bar facilities available at the Pavilion Bar for all the games.
