A powerful batting display saw CIYMS crush Carrick in a one-sided encounter at Belmont in the Lagan Valley Steels T20 group match.

Jacob Mulder and Chris Dougherty both scored half centuries in an opening stand off 85, before Mulder fell for exactly 50, hitting 9 fours and a six in his 28 ball stay.

Dougherty added a further 54 with the second wicket with Pienaar before he too went for 57, clearing the ropes 4 times and also 3 fours in his 44 deliveries.

South African professional Pienaar then launched a brutal assault on the beleaguered Carrick attack, smashing 8 sixes and 4 fours in an unbeaten 83 from only 34 balls.

He and skipper Nigel Jones (22*) putting on an unbroken 83 for the third wicket as the home side posted an imposing 222 for 2.

The Carrick reply never got going, as Allen Coulter (3-12) struck three early blows including overseas professional Jacques Snyman.

CJ van der Walt top scored with 20, while Ryan Eagleson struck a few lusty blows as they petered along to 99 for 8.

David Robinson claimed 2 for 16, while teenage debutant Ethan Biggerstaff also picked up a brace.

The CSNI v Muckamore clash was washed out, while there are two games down for decision on Friday, when Lisburn face Waringstown and North Down entertain Instonians.
