Ireland Women's hopes have been dealt a blow after they announced that Lucy O'Reilly was taking a break from the international stage.

The 19 year-old has been a key figure in the bowling attack since she made her debut as a 13 year-old back in 2013 against Pakistan.

The YMCA teenager has gone on to play 65 times since for the 'Girls In Green', including the recent T20 World Cup.

She has taken 54 wickets at 24.67, with her best-bowling return of 4 for 28 coming against Bangladesh last year.

An excellent fielder, she also took 14 catches and effected 14 run outs.

Although her batting opportunities were limited, she did score the winning boundary off the last ball in 2015 to beat Bangladesh and claim the T20 World Cup Qualifier trophy.

She will continue to play domestic cricket and has indicated a desire to also participate in the early Super Three matches.
