Former Terenure and Glendermott cricketer Givon Christian has been involved in a dramatic incident in his native South Africa, which culminated in a team mate threatening him with a gun.
Christian was playing for Western Province when he became involved in a dispute with team-mate Qassim Adams.
The altercation saw Adams point a weapon at Christian, who initially reported the incident, but later decided not to press criminal charges to save his team mate from serving a jail sentence.
Adams was subsequently banned from playing senior provincial cricket for a season, but following mediation, this was reduced to just 12 days, with the player able to play club cricket during this time.
One can only wonder what offence would have to be committed to warrant a life ban!
Christian signed for Malahide last year, but the move fell through and he never got to play for the village club.
