It was a journey into the unknown for Cregagh in 2018 as they participated in Senior One having gained promotion. They acquitted themselves well and will look to build on that in 2019.

Aaron Johnston has been entrusted with the skipper's armband, and Robert Moore will be his deputy.

They have made two major signings over the winter, gaining two players with Premier League experience, as Jay Hunter arrives from North Down and Danny Cooper from Carrickfergus.

Looking ahead to the new season, Aaron Johnston told CricketEurope.

"Last season was our first in Section One for many years and our initial target was to consolidate our place in the league and we were able to do that relatively comfortably.

"Our target for the upcoming season will be to improve upon our 7th place finish from last season.

"Both Jay and Danny have come in and integrated themselves into the team straight away, and with their premier league experience will add more depth to our batting which we've needed for a few seasons now.

"On a personal note, I'm excited to be leading the team out for the first time this year after learning from Graeme Hassard who did an excellent job in captaining the side for the past five seasons, ultimately leading us into Section One.

"We're a young side that is always improving and I'm looking forward to seeing if we can fulfill our potential."
